Why Join?

If your organisation is not a member of NASHO, you should seriously consider joining. Membership is open to established and new social housing institutions. There are five good reasons for joining NASHO:

  • NASHO represents social housing institutions of all types in discussions with government about everything from housing subsidies to tax exemptions
  • NASHO does research to support its lobbying and programme development activities
  • NASHO provides members with up-to-date information through its website – information about crucial issues affecting your institution
  • NASHO is planning to arrange bulk purchasing and other cost-saving opportunities for its members
  • NASHO facilitates staff exchanges and other training opportunities, and networking opportunities at its annual congress and the monthly meetings held in regions

NASHO's constitution contains the following criteria for incoming members:

  • Members must be registered as a non-profit organisation under the Non-Profit Organisations Act, 1997; or be a registered company whose memorandum and articles of association or policy documents indicate that any profits will be retained within the institution and not be distributed for private gain; and
  • Members must own and / or manage housing stock; and
  • Members must subscribe to this constitution.

Please contact the office for details of our membership fee structure.

You can apply by completing the membership application form and submitting it along with a copy of your current constituting documents and certificate of registration as an NPO, your latest audited financial statement, and a statement about how many units you own or manage.  Send the information to the:
