The Witbank Housing Project is one of the first three proposals that the Presidential Job Summit Pilot Project on Housing (PJSPPH) approved for implementation in 2000. It is a development of social housing rental stock funded wholly by institutional subsidy and intended for an estimated 4000 tenants. Witbank Housing Corporation (WHC) was appointed as the developer in 2000. This decision was based on a proposal submitted by Witbank Housing Corporation in response to the call for proposals by the Provincial Job Summit Pilot Project on Housing.

Emalahleni Housing Institution was set up to manage the units developed as part of this project. It is a non profit company established in June 2000. We currently manage 1205 units/rental stock in a housing complex called Uthingo Park which is situated at Tasbet Park Ext 6. Plans are under discussion for the development of further units in the area. The corporate head office of the institution is located at the Emalahleni Central Business District.
