Govan Mbeki Housing Company was established as a non profit company to deliver rental stock for low to moderate income households. It focuses its primary area of operation in the Gert Sibande District area in Mpumalanga.
We acquire and develop land and properties and manage quality social housing.

Our first development was the redevelopment of hostels as part of the Tsalanang Family Complex. We are also responsible for the management of 81 municipal houses. The Govan Mbeki Municipality has provided us with land. Our project in Evander is a residential development for commercial sale.

Working with an appointed developer, we will develop 210 houses for the home ownership market meant for the middle to high income earners. The proceeds of this project are invested in the social housing development projects.

We have started our first social housing project, Kwandokuhle, on a greenfield site close to the centre of Secunda. Phase one of the development is underway and the first 20 units already occupied. It is intended to develop 600 units over the next 5 years on this project.

We intend to continue as a key provider of quality and affordable accommodation for low to middle income earners within the Gert Sibande District municipality.
