Own Haven Housing Association began operating in January 2001. It was set up to provide affordable, quality rental housing initially in East London. In doing so Own Haven has contributed to the regeneration of the city and enabled low and moderate income households greater access to the resources of the city.

We currently have 1478 units under management within 11 projects and an estimated 5912 tenants. Initially our focus was on developing vacant land. We now recognise the value in the upgrading of inner city stock. The refurbishment of Skyview, formally known as Skyways, is our first success in the inner city.

Our other developments include new builds with Southernwood Square and the recently completed Reservoir Mews. Reservoir Mews is at the intersection of three main roads providing important transport linkages for our tenants as well as showcasing social housing in the city.
With our partners we continue with a substantial development programme adding rental stock not only in East London but also in Port Elizabeth and Knysna. We presently operate our management service from our head office in East London.
In order to implement our commitment to provide stable communities we have embarked on a community development programme. We build more than homes we want homes in safe and vibrant neighbourhoods.
