The Sohco Group comprises two non profit companies, Sohco Amalinda Housing and Sohco Property Investments. These companies are committed to the development and management of social rental housing in East London, Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Cape Town and Durban.
Our primary purpose is the development of quality and affordable flats for families with a monthly income of between R2 500 and R15 000 at the point of application. This includes households with special needs such as the disabled, young adults with a regular income and single parent families. We have an active programme for developing new units in all three cities. .
We develop these in areas where there is good access to schools, clinics, shops and employment opportunities. They are also located in places with good public transport. In total we have 5 projects. We have 7050 units in Cape Town, 1438 in East London and 299 in Ethekweni. These include units built on new sites as well as the conversion of an office block to housing. Presently we are constructing 150 new units in Cape Town and a further 184 in East London.
We usually have our housing management offices very close to the units. This helps ensure that we have close communication with our tenants. We run a very good quality management service and our units provide real value for money.
